7-Day Training Curriculum

Day 1: Cooker Fundamentals & Appliance Types

Goal: Identify type & isolate electrics/gas
  • Electric vs. induction vs. dual-fuel cooker identification
  • Control panel layout and initial isolation procedure
  • Tools: multimeter, screwdriver sets, panel diagrams
  • Safety: full electrical isolation, gas isolation awareness (dual-fuel units)

Day 2: Oven Heating Elements & Thermostats

Goal: Test & replace an oven heating element
  • Testing and replacing grill and bake elements
  • Oven thermostat calibration
  • Components: grill element, bake element, oven thermostat
  • Safety: earth continuity testing, element discharge before handling

Day 3: Hob Systems — Electric & Induction

Goal: Diagnose a faulty hob zone
  • Testing ceramic/solid-plate hob elements
  • Induction coil and power-board diagnostics
  • Components: hob elements, induction coil modules, hob control board
  • Safety: high-voltage induction safety, capacitor discharge

Day 4: Gas Components (Dual-Fuel/Gas Cookers)

Goal: Identify ignition faults & referral limits
  • Gas hob ignition systems and safety valve function
  • Burner assembly cleaning/adjustment
  • Components: gas burners, ignition module, flame safety device
  • Safety: gas leak testing, ventilation checks, Gas Safe referral protocol for regulated work

Day 5: Electronic Controls & Timer/PCB Diagnostics

Goal: Read fault codes & test the door lock
  • Reading fault/error displays and testing control PCBs
  • Timer and door-lock (self-clean) mechanism checks
  • Components: control PCB, timer module, door lock mechanism
  • Safety: ESD precautions, capacitor discharge, isolation before PCB access

Day 6: Fan, Door Seals & Insulation

Goal: Replace a door seal & test the fan motor
  • Oven fan motor testing
  • Door seal/gasket replacement and glass door disassembly
  • Components: fan motor, door seals, door glass/hinges
  • Safety: glass handling safety, pinch-point/crush avoidance on door hinges

Day 7: Full Service Simulation & Customer Handover

Goal: Complete a full mock repair job
  • End-to-end diagnosis on a full unit
  • Safety re-testing, service documentation, and job pricing
  • Full toolkit integration using a service report template
  • Safety: final PAT/gas safety re-check, post-repair function test
