Day 1: Dryer Fundamentals & Airflow Systems

Goal: Identify dryer type & strip the casing

Vented vs. condenser vs. heat-pump dryer types
Airflow path diagnosis and teardown/reassembly basics
Tools: multimeter, panel tools, airflow diagrams
Safety: mains isolation, ventilation & lint fire-risk awareness

Day 2: Heating Systems & Thermal Safety

Goal: Test & replace a thermal fuse & element

Testing heating elements and heat pumps
Thermal fuse and thermostat diagnostics
Components: heating element or heat pump unit, thermal fuse, thermostats
Safety: overheat protection checks, earth leakage testing

Day 3: Drum, Belt & Motor Mechanics

Goal: Replace a drive belt & drum rollers

Belt tension checks and replacement
Drum bearing/roller inspection and motor testing
Components: drive belt, drum rollers/bearings, drive motor
Safety: capacitor discharge, safe drum removal technique

Day 4: Condenser & Heat-Pump Diagnostics

Goal: Service a condenser & know referral limits

Cleaning and testing condenser units
Heat-pump refrigerant circuit basics (non-invasive checks only)
Components: condenser unit, heat exchanger, heat-pump compressor (external checks)
Safety: sealed refrigerant systems — referral protocol, no unauthorised gas handling

Day 5: Electronic Controls & Sensor Diagnostics

Goal: Test a moisture sensor & read fault codes

Moisture sensor testing
PCB error code interpretation and timer/control module checks
Components: control PCB, moisture sensors, timer module
Safety: ESD precautions, capacitor discharge before PCB work

Day 6: Venting, Seals & Noise Troubleshooting

Goal: Clear a blocked vent & replace a seal

Duct/vent blockage diagnosis
Door seal replacement and noise source isolation
Components: vent ducting, door seal/gasket, felt seals
Safety: fire-risk mitigation from blocked vents, safe seal removal

Day 7: Full Service Simulation & Customer Handover

Goal: Complete a full mock repair job

Complete fault-to-fix workflow on a full unit
Safety re-testing and service report writing
Full toolkit integration using a service report template
Safety: final PAT test and post-repair function/safety check
