Track WASH_REPAIR

Washing Machine Repair Track

From direct-drive inverter motors and door interlock safety circuits to main PCB triac soldering and mechanical drum bearing replacements.

Comprehensive Syllabus

7-Day Training Curriculum

Day 1: Foundations & Fault-Finding Mindset

Goal: Safely isolate & identify a machine
  • Reading wiring diagrams and identifying machine types (top-load, front-load, integrated)
  • Systematic fault-diagnosis flow for narrowing down faults efficiently
  • Tools: multimeter, screwdriver sets, panel removal tools
  • Safety: mains isolation, PAT testing basics, lock-out/tag-out

Day 2: Water Systems — Fill & Drain

Goal: Test & replace a drain pump
  • Diagnosing no-fill and no-drain faults
  • Testing inlet solenoid valves and clearing drain pump blockages
  • Components: inlet solenoid valve, drain pump, pressure switch (pressostat), hoses
  • Safety: water/electricity separation, spill containment, valve depressurisation

Day 3: Motors & Drive Systems

Goal: Replace a drive belt & test the motor
  • Testing carbon-brush motors vs. inverter motors
  • Belt inspection/replacement and drum bearing checks
  • Components: drive motor, drive belt, carbon brushes, drum bearings/spider arm
  • Safety: capacitor discharge, motor lock-out before touching the drum assembly

Day 4: Electronic Control & PCB Diagnostics

Goal: Interpret error codes & test the interlock
  • Reading manufacturer error codes and testing PCB outputs
  • Door interlock diagnostics
  • Components: main control PCB, door interlock/lock mechanism, wiring looms
  • Safety: ESD (anti-static) precautions, capacitor discharge before PCB handling

Day 5: Heating Elements & Thermostats

Goal: Test & replace a heating element
  • Heating element continuity and earth-leakage testing
  • Thermostat and NTC temperature sensor checks
  • Components: heating element, thermostat, NTC temperature sensor
  • Safety: earth continuity testing, insulation resistance testing

Day 6: Suspension, Seals & Noise Diagnosis

Goal: Replace a door seal & trace drum noise
  • Diagnosing vibration and noise faults
  • Door seal (gasket) replacement and shock absorber/spring checks
  • Components: door seal/gasket, shock absorbers, suspension springs, counterweights
  • Safety: safe drum handling, avoiding crush injuries during panel/drum work

Day 7: Full Service Simulation & Customer Handover

Goal: Complete a full mock repair job
  • End-to-end fault diagnosis on a full unit
  • Service documentation, job pricing, and customer communication
  • Full toolkit integration using a service report template
  • Safety: final safety check and re-test after repair (PAT + function test)
